At Western Orthopedics & Sports Medicine we believe rehabilitation plays an essential part in recovery for patients suffering a wide variety of related conditions.
We opened a rehabilitation department consisting of physical and hand therapy to allow our physicians, therapists, and patients to work together as a team to achieve the best possible treatment outcomes. The convenience of the rehabilitation department being located directly on sight allows for immediate and effective communication between the patient, therapist, and physician. Patients get satisfaction from knowing their therapist and physician are in direct contact at all times. This working relationship allows for the best care possible.
Common forms of physical therapy include: therapeutic exercise; neuromuscular re-education; manual therapy such as mobilization, manipulation, and stretching; physical and mechanical means such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction; and functional training in self-care and home management.
Our occupational therapist is a certified hand therapist, focusing on treatment and rehabilitation of upper extremity disorders as well as fabrication of custom splints for the hand, wrist and elbow.
Plans are highly individualized. Your physician’s clinical evaluation will dictate the type of therapy most likely to improve your condition. Therapy can be used pre-surgery, post- surgery and in some cases in place of surgery. Depending upon your condition, your therapy may postpone or eliminate the need for surgery.
